heaven without you is worse than hell
Be able to forget.
It is more a matter of luck than a skill. The things we remember best are those better forgotten. Memory is not only unruly, leaving us in the lurch when most needed, but stupid as well, putting its nose into places where it is not wanted. In painful things it is active, but neglecful in recalling the pleasurable. Very often the only remedy for the ill is to forget it, and all we forget is the remedy. Nevertheless one should cultivate good habits of memory, for it is capable of making existence a Paradise or a Inferno. The happy are an exception who enjoy innocently their simple happiness.

finally found a translation for it (plus the whole passage!).
the first two lines have been my motto in life since 1998. the initial reason that got me attached to this back then is totally different from the reason at the moment.. but either way.. this quote will probably stay as my life’s motto.
(and something amazing.. the last line is exactly what i wrote down in my diary few years ago, of course it was in korean but that’s exactly how that line will translate into)
